✶ I. 21+ No exceptions.
While, yes, 18+ is the general rule of thumb for the RP scene here on FFXIV, I require RP partners to be within the 21+ range. Due to the nature of the RP I do, heavy and dark themes are often involved in various amounts- from thematic undercurrents to gruesome and in-your-face if the scene requires it. For this reason, I have elevated the 18+ general benchmark to 21+.

✶II. IC/OOC I am not my characters.
Bleed happens sometimes, I understand- we spend so much time getting to know characters and get excited about new bonds and friendships forged. At the end of the day, it is imparative to understand that I am not my characters. It is especially important to grasp this concept for characters that are darker than most, and characters that are more evil and villainous than most. (We're looking at you, Adrienne.)
✶ Some examples of this separation I expect look like:
✶ My characters are entitled to their own opinion, separate from mine, the writer's.
✶ "This is In-character", and (this) or [this] is out-of-character, || And this is narrative, or an emote that does not begin with '[Character name] emote'.
✶ If a relationship occurs between our characters, that does not automatically mean I desire one out-of-character as well.

✶ III. E/M/D/RP- Please pay attention to the tags.✶ E. Erotic Role Play- Sexy, smutty writing of our characters doing the deed. I have no problem writing these scenes however, I do not advertise it nor engage in it outside story reasons or what feels appropriate to my character and the scene. With Erotic (ERP) come a subset of rules:
a. No is no. Consent is king and I, or my characters, reserve the right to revoke it at any time.
b. Don't be Creepy. I've been stalked before and I don't mess around. Act funny and get introduced to my blacklist.
c. Communicate. Kinks need to be discussed beforehand. No age play, and no feet.
d. Get the hint. I follow a three-strike rule when it comes to unwanted sexual advances. First will be an in-character response. Second will be a firm out-of-character correction. The third time? Welcome to my blacklist.While all of my characters are of-age for E/RP, I reserve the right and discretion to open them up to E/RP content/scenes.✶ M. Mature Role Play- Everything from fun things like flirting, to scantily-clad characters, raunchy humor or topics, to heavier themes not made for general audiences. Again, I ask for everyone to be 21+. All of my characters are M/RP.✶ D. Dark Role Play- Not everything is sunshine and rainbows. a. In all things, I expect honesty, because that is the standard I provide to you as well.
b. If there's a problem regarding anything at anytime, please let me know. I'll be more than happy to talk things through with you and I can't fix what I don't know what to fix.
c. As touched on previously, if our characters end up in a relationship with each other, that's fine. That does not automatically mean that we, OOC, will be in a relationship too. Please, please, please, make sure you understand this.
d. Friendship though? Friendship is fine. I love friendship. Friendship is good for the soul and honestly? I'd like it if we meshed well or at the very least, got along OOC as well. Not a requirement, but damn, would it be nice.

✶ VI. Respect- Easy: Please respect my time because I respect yours. If you can't make it to an RP scene, please let me know as soon as you know. I will only allow myself to wait 45 mins- 1 hour maximum to hear from you about a scheduled RP at the designated time and if no response is heard, I reserve the right to do with the rest of my time as I see fit. I would not like this to happen ideally, but there is a reason why this has become a rule. Secondly, be respectful OOC. If you have a problem with me or with anything at anytime, talk to me. Again, I'll be happy to talk things through and resolve things amicably with you.

✶ VII. Maturity- Please communicate. This isn't High School. That spirit of mutual respect goes out the window the second insults are thrown, passive aggressive behavior is utilized, isolation and antagonizing by covert narcissism is utilized, names are called, and 'sides' are picked. I'm tired. And in the spirit of exhaustion, I'll let you be friends with my Blacklist if you don't want to be friends with me. That's fine.
Again, I would not like this to happen ideally, but there is a reason why this has become a rule.
I'm really out here to meet new people, make friends and enjoy the game with them, and tell stories together through a shared past-time. That's all. All problems can be brought to me, I promise. If I can fix it, I will. I just ask that you do the same for me and we'll get along just fine.

I, or my characters, are not licensed therapists and ultimately cannot help heal you. As a fellow human, I can empathize, and as a friend I can sympathize, but I do not want, and cannot have my role to be the therapist.

✶ IX. ICLY Relationships- I'm picky. If you want to place blame, you can blame the degenerates in the community that have made it progressively harder and harder for you to get your character with one of mine. Exclusive vs. Poly-- honestly? It's up to the characters. Some of them will always be Poly, some of them only want Exclusivity. As a default, they're Poly because I'm done putting up with asking my characters to be in Exclusive relationships with another, while they get sidelined and put in a relationship where they're the only participant.My characters are not trophies to be won. Start treating them like one, and I'll happily show you the door. They've grown too much as characters to be treated as anything less than they deserve.
Again, I would not like this to be a rule but... well, here we are.

✶ X. My Own Limitations- I am a human, so therefore, I have OOC limitations too. Just getting out the obvious ones real quick-
a. No PDF's. If you are one, DNI. The door's behind you.
b. Young'ns less than 21- Get off my lawn, come back when you're older
c. Those looking for ERP- Go back to the Balmung QS, or if you got the cash I can introduce you to a Courtesan character that'll gladly take it.
d. Any drama-mongerers or wayward trolls, feel free to go back to your home under the bridge.
Okay, with those out of the way, here's a little about me so you can gain a bigger picture of the writer on the other end of the screen.✶ I work odd hours, and on odd days. I may not always be available or have the energy to RP. While I love the idea of spontaneous RP, that will not be the best way to seek time with me. Scheduled RP's are the way to go for now.
✶ I'm an anxiety machine. Yes, diagnosed. Yes, on medication. Do I still have it? Yes, I do. While I do my best and can function normally 90% of the time, I may require more reassurance than someone that's neurotypical.✶ I've got ADHD if my struggle wasn't hard enough. In my experience, that manifests in a few different ways: a lot of the time, I forget to respond. Sometimes, I forget RP's. It is never out of anything bad that I don't talk to you- chances are, I just plumb forgot. Reminders are wonderful and you are free to send me one at any time. In fact, I'd prefer it!✶ Due to Anxiety and ADHD, I'd prefer it if you reached out first. Trust me. Anxiety go brr and my engine is old.
✶ I've been on FFXIV RP for a little over four years now, and very little of it has been good. To say that I've been traumatized by the RP community at large, their behavior, their treatment, and their audacity to pull some of the stunts that they have is an understatement. I've dealt with stalkers, RP partners that mistook ICLY relationships for a real one and then projected that on to me OOC, RP groups where a 'friend' antagonized me by the proxy of someone else with the express purpose of causing distress and in attempt to get me in trouble and kicked from said group, and the mental and emotional abuse that came with an RP partner allowing that to happen, then also use me as an emotional proxy and therapist to help validate himself and put the pressure of fixing his failing IRL relationship on me.Am I breaking my own rule (VIII) a little bit to air this out? Yeah, a little. But the main difference is, I'm not asking you to be my therapist. For the most part, I've recovered/am in recovery from the horrible things that have been done. I do that on my own, and in my own time. All I ask from you, is understanding. And, of course, don't fucking do that shit.
I'm still here. My love of RP and my hope of finding a few diamonds in the rough is what keeps me going. When I started, I didn't have ten rules filled with all-too-specific-examples. I just ask that you do your best to be a good people, and to talk to me if there's any issue. Please, for gods' sakes-- just talk to me. And don't be afraid to be honest.
